Sex ed that doesn't treat you like an idiot.

No euphemisms. No moral panic. Just the concrete biology of human reproduction, the mechanics of pleasure, and the actual math behind risk.

CURRENT DATA

45% of pregnancies in the US are unintended. Knowledge is the primary barrier to effective prevention.

Why we built this.

Most online sexual health resources fall into two traps: they are either cold, clinical pathology repositories designed for doctors, or they are brightly colored, vague blogs that refuse to give direct answers.

The Institute exists to split the difference. We provide the hard data—failure rates, transmission probabilities, anatomical mechanics—in plain English.

Typical vs. Perfect Use.

The difference between laboratory efficacy and human reality is where unintended pregnancies happen.

When a method claims '99% effectiveness', that is often perfect use. Typical use accounts for forgotten pills and broken condoms. Understanding the delta is critical.

Testing too early produces false negatives. Know when an exposure is detectable.

Common Clinical Misunderstandings

"Pre-cum doesn't contain sperm."

False. While pre-ejaculate does not inherently contain sperm, it sweeps the urethra. If a previous ejaculation occurred, viable sperm can be deposited.

"You can't get pregnant on your period."

False. Sperm live up to 5 days. A short cycle means ovulation can overlap with menstruation.

"A clean STI panel means you have nothing."

False. Standard panels rarely test for HSV or HPV.

"Hymens break and bleed."

False. The corona is a flexible tissue fold that stretches. Bleeding is usually a result of microtears from lack of lubrication.
